The germanic myth goes like this...

Creation of the world
First there was nothing, no earth, no ocean, no sky
there was just a huge chasm which was called Ginnungagap.
in the big space that there was lived a allmighty mystical ghost called Fimbultyr. He decided to create a foggy empire in the north, which was called Nifelheim, and a empire of fire in the south which was called Muspelheim.
In the cold Nifelheim a spring originated: Hwergelmir. From this spring there came 12 streams which all floated into the huge gap and freezed there.After thousands of years the gap got fuller and fuller of ice.
Meanwhile there was the king of Muspelheim, Surtur, sitting and watching how the fire sparks from his empire mixed with the waterdrops of the spring in Nifelheim and by this created a giant which was called Ymir. With Ymir a second creature originated: the cow Audhumbla, whose milk was there to nurish Ymir.
One day a son came out under one arm of Ymir, and under the other arm a daughter arose. From these two the family of the Hrimthursen arose, the giants.
The cow was licking the salty ice blocks in the gap and after three days of licking a big, strong und beautiful man came out of the ice: Buri. He created a son by himself, Bör, and Bör created three sons which all were godlike: Odin, Hönir, Loki.
These sons went to fight the family of Ymir for leadership of Nifelheim.
They killed Ymir and in his blood his complete family except of two drowned. These two survivors got on a boat, sailed away and became the ancestors of the follwing giant families.
The three sons threw the body of Ymir into the gap and by this the world was created: from his flesh the earth originated, his teeth became stones, his hair became trees, his skull became the sky and his brain the clouds. With his eyebrows the land and the ocean were separated.
On the northern islands the three giants settled down and called themselves the "Columns of the World" from nowon, the middle they called Midgard, where the humans should live.

So now there was sky and earth and clouds and ocean but it was still dark, so Odin and his brothers took the fireflames from Surturs fire empire, put them into the sky and thereby created the stars. A big star which was the sunwagon was from now on driven by a girl, another big star, the moonwagon, was driven by her brother. Night and Day and time were created.
Under the sunbeams Midgard began to grow forests and flowers and big and small animals. The only thing missing were the humans.
So one day during a walk at the beach Odin and his brothers came by two trees, an ash tree and an elm tree. And out of the ash they created a man, out of the elm a woman. Odin gave them spirit and live, Hönir gave them mind and movement, Loki gave them senses, emotions, colours and language.
So the first two human beings stood in front of the three giants and Odin pointed over Midgard and said: Look. This land is your home. Here you will live, domesticate animals, farm the land and eat the fruits of the trees and the fields, you and your children and their children. And so they did and all germanic people descend from them.
As far as I can tell by the pictures you made of the place in Legnica it is beautiful. The right place for stories and myths.

Nowy Świat - Nowy Mit
Spotkanie z Mitem na Nowym Świecie już niebawem, bo zaczyna się 22 maja. Przygotowanie trwają. Szukamy mitów, odpowiedzi na pytanie jak powstał świat? Ale też próbujemy odgadnąć mitologiczny sposób myślenia, jako że mit to światopogląd. Tych którzy jeszcze nie zaczęli szukać i odgadywać zachęcamy... Pisać będziemy po angielsku, bo pracujemy w międzynarodowych grupach.

Nowy Świat - Nowy Mit
Mit nie jest już taką wartością dla człowieka jak dawniej. Stracił swoją podstawową funkcję i jest to normalny proces bo nasz świat się przecież wciąż zmienia. Mit nie tłumaczy już niezrozumiałego i strasznego świata, a jest zwykłą opowieścią. Ma też jednak inne funkcje, które wciąż są aktualne.Wciąż integruje ludzi, zbliża do siebie.
Tworząc Ośrodek Nowy Świat chcemy też stworzyć jego Mit. Poprzez zetknięcie różnorodnych kultur: niemieckiej, włoskiej i polskiej, kultur o odmiennych korzeniach i mentalności, powstaną nowe wartości. Goście z Niemiec i Włoch zawitają do Legnicy i przez te siedem dni będziemy pracować nad wspólnym mitem Nowego Świata. Spróbujemy wyjaśnić: skąd się wziął? Będziemy opowiadać bo mity to utwory mówione. Samo opowiadanie i pamięć jako nośnik informacji będzie dla nas bardzo istotna. Tradycja oralna w kulturze umiera. Jest tak wiele sposobów, by przekazać i utrwalić informacje, że ludzie coraz to mniej opowiadają. A że przez muzyką też można wiele powiedzieć, dlatego w projekcie muzyka odegra równie ważną rolę jak słowo. Zadaniem muzyków będzie wyczuć melodię miejsca i połączyć ją z opowieściami. Grać nam będą nie tylko instrumenty, ale i woda, piasek, metalowe naczynia…
Celem spotkania jest stworzenie mitu budynku Nowego świata, miejsca nam współczesnego przez łączenie ze sobą różnych mitologii. Podczas poszukiwania źródeł i inspiracji odpowiemy też sobie na pytanie: skąd się wzięliśmy, skąd pochodzimy? Jest to więc także tworzenie opowieści o nas samych. Tworzenie wspólnego mitu, a przez to zbliżenie ludzi do siebie. Ważny jest sam akt tworzenia tej historii. Sęk w tym, by zaszczepić chęć i obudzić potrzebę szukania własnych korzeni i tożsamości. Owszem łatwiej i wygodniej jest być obywatelem świata, ale w ten sposób zatraca się mądrość, która tkwi w historiach i tradycjach osadzonych w lokalnych kontekstach. Stają się one niezrozumiałe bo nie są aktualne. Tworząc ich aktualny wymiar może uda się tę wartość utrzymać. Nie jest to oczywiście naturalny proces powstawania takich opowieści, ale wartości i rola człowieka jako ich twórcy pozostaje niezmienna.

Napoje, te mniej lub bardziej wystrzałowe we własnym zakresie. Kiełbaski do nabycia na miejscu.

Nowy Świat i jego Nowy Mit
Mity od wieków tłumaczą nam powstanie świata. Skoro powstaje Ośrodek Nowy Świat powstać powinien Nowy Mit jako, że taka jest naturalna kolej rzeczy. Od 22 do 29 maja goście z Niemiec, Włoch i Polski spędzą siedem dni na tworzeniu wspólnego mitu miejsca czerpiąc z mitologii germańskiej, słowiańskiej i romańskiej. Wyjaśnimy jak powstał Nowy Świat i jego poszczególne elementy. Zbierzemy mity z różnych części Europy, by w ciągu tygodnia połączyć je jedną wspólną opowieść. 28.05.2010 odbędzie się opowiadany i muzyczny spektakl, podczas któego porowadzać będziemy po budynku i opowiadać o powstaniu świata, tego „Nowego Świata”.

Pomnik Przyjaźni - 24.09-4.10 2010
Legnica. Plac Słowiański a na nim pomnik Przyjaźni Polsko – Radzieckiej, znaczący symbol, związany z sowiecką historią Legnicy. Budzi wiele kontrowersji. I dlatego to na nim właśnie chcemy się skupić. Będzie to spotkanie, w którym wezmą udział młodzi ludzie z Rosji i byłych krajów ZSSR: Polski i Łotwy. W dniach 24 września - 4 października 2010 stworzymy przedstawienie bazując na zebranych wcześniej osobistych opowieściach starszych legniczan o sowieckich czasach i codziennych sytuacjach polsko – rosyjskich. Przedstawimy je za pomocą tańca (break dance, balet, taniec współczesny), muzyki (hip – hop i rosyjski chór), gry aktorskiej.
Jednak najważniejszymi osobami będą stali bywalcy placu, czyli skaterzy i rolkarze. Chcemy jednocześnie pokazać dzisiejszy Plac Słowiański, ludzi z Placu i ich problemy, czyli brak możliwości rozwijania swoich pasji.
Celem projektu jest poszukiwanie nowego znaczenia Pomnika i pomysłu na to miejsce, bo od lat toczy się dyskusja o jego usunieciu, przeniesieniu, lub pozostawieniu. Pomnik przypomnina częstokroć ciężkie dla legniczan czasy – chcemy zmienić to przez działnia atrystyczne i spotkania w tym miejscu. Naszym celem jest też zmiana stereotypowego myślenia. Ma to być spotkanie przy Pomniku Przyjaźni, już nie PrzyjaźniPolsko – Radzieckiej, ale po prostu przyjaźni.
