Monument of Russian - Polish Brotherhood

We will meet with Russians and people from former Soviet Union to create a performance about the Polish and Soviets in Legnica (3th October 2010). Workshops will take place on from 24th September - 4th October 2010.

All about the marble-clad monument of two soldiers and the girl called the monument of Polish and Soviet brotherhood. It is placed in the very center of the city and there is a problem what to do with it. For some people it a symbol of soviet times in Legnica, for others it a piece of art.

The main goal is to create new context. To make it not Polish – Soviet any more, but just friendship. As You can guess, it’s not only about the monument but about the relation between people. We are going to invite people from former USSR country. During ten days in Legnica group of young Polish, Russian, and maybe Latvian, Lithuanian or Estonian people will create a performance – by acting, dancing and singing, playing music will tell the histories connected with the monument from past and present. I don’t mean those great histories, but small, personal stories of usual people, related with Russians and Polish in Legnica.

What is the most important, this square is like a meeting place for some youths. It’s group of skateboarders and rollers. So, as it is their place, this meeting will be in their atmosphere. All together with dancers and group of amateur actors will create a performance.
