New Myth

The first project will be about creating myths. Ages ago, when people could not explain the world around in the technical way. They were afraid of the world, so they create myths to understated what is happening around. So, the myth is the way of persevering the world. Mostly explaining how it is working and how it was created. What is the most important - it is the answer for the question: Where we come from? It's supporting the feeling of our identity. Nowadays, those stories lost their initial, primary function. Now those are just usual stories, but I think that there is still a dormant power in it.
So, as there is “New World”, we need to create a new myth. We invited people from Italy and Germany (about seven people from each country) in May 2010 to spend about seven days with us on composing a creative myth - the story about this place. We will made this story from the other myths, folk tales from Legnica and from Your countries, German and Italian.
At the beginning there will be a lecture and discussions about the myths in general (changing function of myths, myth as a belief, structure of myths, hidden meaning, the process of creating a myth, a oral tradition of storytellers.) After that, we will work in two ways: as storytellers and musicians. Not only by words we can tell stories. The music can express stories as well. Sound doesn't need the word to have meaning. So, we there will be two kinds of workshops: oral and music. The final summary will be festival of storytellers, where we will tell, sing and play the story we created. We are going to work at days.
What is important - the result is not the most important think, but the progress of work, and opportunity of working together!
There is some work before meeting in Legnica - we have to collect the traditional stories and music to compose something new from it, like from puzzles. We are going to work in the building, where "New World" will be in future, so I hope that all feelings from this place will be included to our story as well.
